FORT IRWIN, California. L3Harris Technologies and ARX Robotics UK demonstrated L3Harris’ CORVUS-RAVEN counter-drone system mounted on an ARX GEREON uncrewed ground vehicle (UGV) during the U.S. Army’s Project Convergence-Capstone 6, the company announced in a statement.
CORVUS-RAVEN passively detects radio-frequency signals associated with potential drone threats and provides bearing information to operators, the statement reads. Mounting the system on the remotely controlled GEREON allowed the sensor to be moved into forward areas while sending threat information to operators elsewhere.
The system uses an open architecture and can generate Tactical Assault Kit (TAK)-compatible messages for integration with command-and-control and battle-management applications, according to L3Harris. The company says this enables threat-bearing data to contribute to a shared geospatial operating picture.
CORVUS-RAVEN also includes an electronic defeat capability, the statement reads.
The demonstration examined how robotic ground platforms could reposition counter-drone sensors as operational requirements change while reducing the need for personnel to remain near the sensing equipment, L3Harris says.
