NASHUA, New Hampshire. BAE Systems launched its Shadow EW family of compact electronic warfare (EW) systems for small airborne platforms, combining low size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements with software-defined capabilities for missions in contested environments, the company announced in a statement.
The systems are designed to support EW applications including situational awareness, targeting, deception, survivability, and collaborative effects delivery, according to the statement. Shadow EW products use commercial microchips for computing and are designed around open-architecture standards, with field-upgradeable software intended to support changing mission requirements.
BAE Systems says the systems are designed for high-volume production and rapid platform integration. Production will take place at the company’s Cedar Rapids, Iowa, facilities, while software and design work will be performed in Nashua, New Hampshire.
