Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is available to play starting today. Carnage’s character guide video has been released that details how to play the fighter.
Notably, Carnage was one of the characters that was unavailable during the Open Beta test period. In other words, most players probably know more about the other combatants than Carnage at this point.
Carnage is said to be among the easiest fighters to play in Marvel Tokon. His ease of usage rating is just as high as Captain America and Hulk’s.
Despite this, there are some important caveats that need to be understood in order to properly play Carnage. In particular, his unique mechanics “Necrosis” and “Parasite Bomb” are fundamental to making his kit work.
Those familiar with M. Bison is Street Fighter 6 will probably understand how the Parasite Bomb works. After afflicting the opponent with Necrosis with the unique skill “Parasite Fang,” Carnage need simply press the Unique button again after connecting with a special, whether it be on hit or block.
Notably, Carnage’s specials are fairly unsafe on block. However, they can be made safe by activating Parasite Bomb as a follow up.
Other effects of Necrosis makes it so that Carnage’s heavy attacks deal more damage and will even inflict chip damage against blocking opponents. Additionally, an automatic follow up will occur upon connecting specials.
Carnage is armed with some long-ranged specials that deal more damage if spaced correctly. He even has access to an armored special that will make it difficult to bully him with fast buttons.
Absolute Carnage, Carnage’s Ultimate Skill, will deal additional damage if the opponent is already afflicted with Necrosis. If they aren’t, then the attack will end by applying the debuff to the opposing lead character.
Essentially, Carnage’s gameplay revolves around keeping the Necrosis debuff applied to the opponent to give him access to the best possible block strings and combos.
