Brandon Moreno and Charles Johnson are set to clash at UFC 335 on December 12 in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. News for this one dropped on Moreno’s personal Instagram page last night.
that post states that Moreno is coming into the fight with a clear goal “to continue proving that he belongs in the flyweight elite.” The post also says that Johnson’s goal is to “curb Moreno’s momentum”.
Moreno is currently ranked eighth in the real rankings and tenth in the Zuckerberg rankings. Johnson is unranked according to the media and ranked fifteenth according to Meta.
Both men have had some very up-and-down performances lately.
Moreno just fought in September, getting a split decision over Joseph Morales. I scored that one for Morales, though, who — to me — was actually landing offense and not just rumbling forwards and looking like he was landing. Before that, in February, Moreno was a distant second best to Lone’er Kavanagh. Moreno closed 2025 with a TKO loss to Tatsuro Taira.
This will be Johnson’s fifth fight of the year. ‘Inner G’ is coming off a big win over Eduardo Chapolin, whom he snagged in a Scottish twister. That rare submission win came after Johnson suffered a rare submission loss — a Suloev stretch against Asu Almabayev (who was boxing him up on the feet before trying to peel him like a banana). Before that he took a split decision over Bruno Silva. He opened the year by getting knocked out cold by Alex Perez.
UFC 335 is shaping up to be a very big show to close the year.
The main event is Charles Oliveira vs. Diego Lopes for the BMF belt. The co-main sees Alex Pereira return, at heavyweight, to take on Sergei Pavlovich. The event also includes Joe Pyfer vs. Bo Nickal.
