The pub itself is an astounding palimpsest of history, having served various roles over six centuries, including a factory, a school, a private house, and even a brief stint as a dentist’s office. Its name honours the travelling brushmakers who used the vale of Upham as a base, fashioning brushes from local hazel sticks and selling their wares across the countryside. Adding to its deep history, the structure also briefly served as Oliver Cromwell’s campaign headquarters in 1645 during the English Civil War, as he advanced on Winchester. Yet, despite this notable military connection, the strongest spiritual signal comes not…
Russian engineers are planning to modernize BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles by equipping them with mini-drones, thereby enhancing their tactical capabilities and crew safety on the battlefield. This initiative was announced on August 22 by the press service of the High-Precision Systems holding. The project is currently led by specialists at Kurganmashzavod, who are developing a business plan for integrating these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into the BMP-3 platform. Once testing is complete, the drones will be integrated into the vehicle’s design.Follow Army Recognition on Google News at this linkThe BMP-3 is an infantry fighting vehicle designed in Russia. As the Army continues efforts to strengthen operations in the space domain, the service will begin prioritizing new counterspace capabilities in its budget requests beginning in fiscal 2027, according to a senior official. “This year during program budget review, we included counterspace capabilities for the first time in our strategic priority list,” Col. Peter Atkinson, principal space advisor at the Department of the Army, said Wednesday during the annual AUSA conference. “That’s the Army prioritizing how important these consequential capabilities are in making sure that they get the requisite resources.” Since the establishment of the Space Force in 2019, Army…
Unlocking investment in Ukraine’s defense tech could open the next major frontier, forged in war and fueled by ingenuity. Oct 16, 2025 15:39 6 min read Authors CEO and co-founder of MITS Capital Bringing capital to win the war—and the peaceUkraine’s defense ecosystem has achieved remarkable things under impossible conditions. But to sustain that pace—and to build an enduring defense industrial base that integrates into European and NATO supply chains—it needs capital. Not charity, not one-time grants, but investment capital that treats Ukraine’s defense tech as what it is: one of the most dynamic innovation environments on the planet. That capital,…
I, for one, love and appreciate the work that Shiel Wood is doing with this Texas Tech defense. It’s been a thrill to see the way that he’s overhauled things for a program that traditionally doesn’t exactly play great defense. And ever since he was hired, and through the first six games of this season, the Red Raiders have been playing some fantastic football on that side of the ball.Right now, there is nobody better in the Big 12 when it comes to slowing down opposing offenses. The Red Raiders are boasting the No. 1 total defense in the conference.…

A landowner in Indiana made an astonishing find earlier this year when they unearthed a piece of a skull along the Whitewater River. The discovery, which initially seemed like just another relic, turned out to be much more significant than anyone could have imagined. Radiocarbon dating revealed that the skull fragment was over 4,000 years old, providing a rare glimpse into the ancient lives of the region’s early inhabitants. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office, working alongside expert researchers, is now investigating the artifact’s origins and the cultural implications of such a discovery. Unearthing the Past: A 4,000-Year-Old Skull at the…
Army medical and public affairs personnel on a recent week-long exchange with Angolan service members set out to bridge one rather significant gap capable of making or breaking operations between allied nations: language. Part of the exchange, which matched up troops from U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa, with personnel from the Angolan Military Health Division, sought to identify emerging, scalable tech capable of real-time language translation in what could one day be high-stress environments in which interpreters are not readily available. As select personnel in the exchange trained on an array of medical procedures, others, like 1st Lt. Tucker…
