Venegono Superiore (Va), 26/01/2026 – Leonardo is looking to the future of advanced military pilot training with the international FITS4TOP (Future Integrated Training System for TOP Pilots) project, an innovative “system of systems” designed to enhance the current Live, Virtual and Constructive capabilities of the military pilot training syllabus. The solution is seamlessly integrated into the M-346 advanced jet trainer and its Ground-Based Training Systems…

Military Times has edited the headline. In the summer of 1959, a group of American soldiers began carving trenches in the Greenland ice sheet. Those trenches would become the snow-covered tunnels of Camp Century, a secret Arctic research base powered by a nuclear reactor. It was located about 150 miles inland from Thule, now Pituffik, a large American military base set up in north-western Greenland after a military agreement with Denmark during world war two.Camp Century operated for six years, during which time the scientists…
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday urged Senate Democrats to advance the government funding package that must become law before the weekend to avoid a partial shutdown, rejecting their proposal to remove the Homeland Security funding bill.Democrats in the upper chamber say they are ready to help pass five of the six bills, but insist the Homeland Security spending measure must be stripped and renegotiated to include more constraints on federal immigration enforcement after officers killed a second American citizen in Minnesota this weekend. “We absolutely do not want to see that funding lapse and we want the Senate to move…
Most of the world’s largest militaries rely on small fleets of specialised systems to breach defended minefields as quickly and as safely as possible. This article examines how these breaching systems are evolving in response to challenges to their survivability and concerns over their affordability and availability. Breaching an enemy minefield is a complex, time consuming, and extremely hazardous operation. Unlike other mine clearance operations, the engineers responsible for opening a breach not only face the dangers inherent in neutralising mines, but are likely to also be exposed to hostile fire from the defender. Worse still, breaching is very much…
Tailwind Labs CEO Adam Wathan recently blamed AI for forcing him to lay off three workers. Tailwind Labs oversees the development of the open source Tailwind CSS framework. And according to Wathan, AI coding tools came between the company and its customers, reducing traffic to the website, which in turn hit product exposure. “Traffic to our docs is down about 40 percent from early 2023 despite Tailwind being more popular than ever,” he wrote in a GitHub Issues post earlier this month. “The docs are the only way people find out about our commercial products, and without customers we can’t…
Sean O’Malley believes his next fight will be for the title. O’Malley returned to the win column at UFC 324 on Saturday as he picked up a decision win over Song Yadong. Following the win, O’Malley called out Petr Yan, as he believes a rematch for the belt makes a lot of sense. However, O’Malley believes Merab Dvalishvili could get the shot, and if he does, O’Malley said he will wait for the winner for one simple reason: money. “I want Petr Yan. The thing is, if I would make more money fighting someone else, I’d want that. The amount…

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump may be attempting to tackle drug trafficking by killing purported smugglers, but the Colombian military says it’s looking to a more creative solution: killing the high. “We are investigating one chemical form, chemical molecular, to put inside of the fuel in order to affect the composition of the cocaine,” Colombia’s Minister of Defense Pedro Sánchez told Breaking Defense during an interview in late 2025. The hope is to diminish cocaine’s potency, kneecapping its global demand. “If you make the invention, I’ll give you $1 million,” he later quipped. During cocaine production, after coca leaves are harvested,…
