Asadula “The Dagestan Ninja” Imangazaliev produced the most devastating performance of his career on March 20, stopping legend Nong-O Hama at 0:44 of round two in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 147 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. However, Imangazaliev missed weight the day before the event. He was ineligible to claim the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship. The title remains vacant.
The 22-year-old Russian set the tone from the opening bell. He immediately pushed a kick directly into the face of the eight-time Muay Thai World Champion. It was a statement of intent that made clear he had no plans to be overawed by the occasion. Nong-O adapted, moving in and out of the pocket and landing right body kicks to establish his own rhythm.
The second round lasted less than a minute. The two traded on the outside until Nong-O threw a straight right to the body. Imangazaliev read it perfectly. He stepped back, then unloaded a left hook to the head, right hook to the body, and left hook back to the head in a seamless combination that put the legend down before he hit the canvas. The referee stopped it immediately.
The finish moved Imangazaliev’s overall record to 12-0 and 8-0 inside ONE Championship, with seven of those wins coming by stoppage on the global stage. In his post-fight interview, he floated the idea of facing former divisional king Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the vacant flyweight Muay Thai crown.
Asadula announces himself as the flyweight division’s most dangerous man
The flyweight Muay Thai title picture now takes a significant turn. Imangazaliev has demolished everyone placed in front of him inside ONE Championship, and his performance on Friday against the most credentialed opponent of his career left no doubt about where he stands in the division.
Nong-O entered the bout with a 267-fight career resume, seven consecutive bantamweight title defenses, and the experience of two decades at the elite level. None of it was enough to slow the Dagestani wrecking machine on this night.
The weight miss complicates the championship picture. But the performance delivered will be impossible to ignore when ONE Championship looks to fill the vacant flyweight throne.
