Overhype Studios’ Strategy RPG Gets New Weapons, Enemies, and Balance Changes in Update 1.5.2.2
As if one of the greatest sandbox tactical RPGs ever made, already packed with content and firmly established, needed anything more, a substantial new update for Battle Brothers has arrived out of nowhere. Version 1.5.2.2 adds new equipment, tougher enemies, another character background, and several combat adjustments aimed at opening more build options.

The update introduces three weapons. The Pollaxe combines hammer and axe attacks, allowing mercenaries to stagger enemies before following up with an additional strike. The Executioner’s Sword is a heavy two-handed blade built around finishing wounded targets, while the Estoc focuses on armor penetration and benefits from high initiative when using its Skewer skill.
Bandit groups have also gained a new mid-to-late-game unit. Brigand Marauders are stronger than standard Raiders, with better stats, additional perks, and heavier equipment. They can initially appear as leaders before eventually forming full roaming parties.
Noble house armies now field Men at Arms as well, giving northern factions a better armored frontline unit with both shield and two-handed weapon variants.

Several existing systems have been adjusted. Duelist now works while carrying a buckler, and named bucklers can appear as loot. Riposte costs two action points rather than four, while Split and Swing require five action points when used with the Warbrand and Romphaia. The Goedendag’s Knock Out attack has also received a damage increase.
Other additions include the new Executioner background, a Very Fast world map speed, more armor color variations, expanded DLC equipment distribution, and guaranteed Rachegeist’s Helmet loot from its legendary location. The patch also fixes crashes, wardog turn behavior, event issues, and several smaller bugs.
Players using mods should disable them before updating, as compatibility problems may occur. Steam users can also return to version 1.5.1.8 through the Betas menu when needed.
