When it comes to possible negotiations, Russia often fuels terror – this is the tendency Ukrainian military commentators notice while assessing the aggressor’s actions in the context of the negotiation process.
This view was expressed by the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, during a broadcast.
“A hardened tactic for Russians whenever the topic turns to any possible negotiation processes – they always intensify terror, we have seen this more than once. And these processes always correlate with each other”
Destruction of drones and the situation at sea
According to Pletenchuk, the past weeks have been marked by active strikes against naval targets, with the majority of them involving drones that are within the fleet’s area of responsibility.
“In some cases, this was even a 100% hit rate, especially during the daytime. Of course, there are complications, which is why mobile firing groups cannot be placed at sea. And accordingly, the Russians are taking advantage of this, approaching from the sea. There is also a ship’s boat flotilla, on whose tally there is also far from the first dozen drones in the last few weeks”
The spokesperson also noted that the storm season significantly affects plans for using naval forces, particularly the routes out to sea.
“This year, compared with the past, I do not see that the storm season has started so abruptly. You see, the weather is relatively warm. But from mid-autumn usually to mid-spring this is the period of storms, when even going to sea is possible, and launches are not”
Pletenchuk also noted that navigation at the Novorossiysk base during storms remains quite challenging, whereas in Crimea conditions are much simpler both for navigation and presence.
“In Crimea, of course, all these things are much simpler: both navigation and direct presence”
Note that during the attack on Izmail three ships sustained damage after ignoring warnings from the Navy.
