Mipmap Digital has partnered with asmodee to bring HEAT: Pedal to the Metal to Android, iOS, and PC, turning the award-winning board game into a digital racing experience. The adaptation stays true to the original game’s rules and visual identity while using features such as dynamic camera angles, contextual information, and more.
Based on the board game from Days of Wonder, designed by Asger Harding Granerud and Daniel Skjold Pedersen, Heat: Pedal to the Metal takes you back to the golden age of 1960s motorsport. Instead of relying on traditional driving controls, the game uses a card-based system where every move can affect your position on the track.
You’ll need to manage your speed, handle tight corners, and decide when to push your engine without risking overheating. Playing the right cards can help you gain an advantage over your rivals, but going too hard at the wrong moment could cost you valuable positions.
The digital version will feature 3D recreations of four iconic racing circuits across the USA, France, Great Britain, and Italy. You can take on AI-controlled Legends in solo races, set up local custom games with friends, or compete in championships. The Championship mode will also feature garage upgrades and sponsorships, alongside changing weather and road conditions.
Overall, the game looks promising thanks to 3D recreations of four iconic circuits, online multiplayer, cross-platform races, The Legends expansion, and more. The game is still in development, so stay tuned for more updates regarding its launch date.
