Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was originally released on August 6, 2026 for the PlayStation 5 and PC. It launched with 20 characters in the base roster — 21 when counting the unlockable Champion.
Unfortunately, Marvel Tokon reported dismal sales figures for the Japanese region. One can easily imagine how this might be a problem considering how the game’s aesthetic was clearly marketed towards Japan.
Of course, it’s always been known that Capcom’s Marvel vs. Capcom series has performed poorly in Japan while being quite popular in North America. It would seem that history is repeating with Arc System Works’ Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
The PlayStation Blog has reported that EA Sports Madden NFL 27 and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls led the PlayStation 5 download charts for the month of August for the United States and Canada. There was no mention of Marvel Tokon for the European region. Specific sales figures for Marvel Tokon were also not provided in the post.
Meanwhile, the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls developers are continuing to work towards addressing issues with the PC version of the game that has been plaguing PC users since the Open Beta period.
“A small PC update will be deployed later today. No maintenance is required,” said the developers over on X.
“This update includes adjustments to help strengthen our ability to track and investigate reported issues as we continue working on improvements to the PC version of the game. Additional monitoring and diagnostic updates may be released in the coming weeks as we gather data and roll out further improvements.”
