FORT BLISS, Texas. Lockheed Martin demonstrated an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled battle management prototype designed to integrate data from multiple integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) systems planned for Guam, the company announced in a statement.
The Guam Defense System Battle Manager Suite combines information from multiple sensors and weapon systems into a common air picture and uses AI-based analytics to provide operators with fire-direction recommendations, the statement reads.
During the demonstration, the prototype processed hundreds of tracks and generated recommendations for responding to identified threats, according to Lockheed Martin. The system also displayed weapon inventories and potential engagement opportunities within the operating area.
The suite uses an open architecture that enables software, planned responses, air tasking information, airspace-control information, and capabilities from other defense companies to be integrated into the system, the company says.
Lockheed Martin says the prototype was integrated into the Army Tactical Systems Integration Lab environment within 24 hours of arriving at Fort Bliss.
The battle manager uses the company’s CommandIQ software and algorithms informed by thousands of simulations to support weapon-selection decisions for missile defense operations, the statement reads.
