Gaming is becoming an increasingly expensive hobby. This is especially apparent with the announcement of the Steam Machine’s details from Valve.
The cheapest version of the device is currently set at $1,049. Purchasing this option will provide it with 512GB storage, but it doesn’t even come with a controller.
To get a controller packaged with the Steam Machine, it’ll instead cost $1,128 — a price increase of $79. Amusingly enough, the prices get even higher for those that need more storage for their extensive Steam libraries.
Acquiring the Steam Machine with 2TB of storage will run the cost to $1,349. Getting it packaged with a controller increases the price to a whopping $1,428.
Other specs include a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 6C / 12T, semi-custom AMD RDNA3 28CUs, 16GB DDR5 + 8GB GDDR6 VRAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, gigabit ethernet, integrated Steam Controller wireless adapter and SteamOS 3.
The device is set to be released on June 29, 2026. Players will essentially be able to play their entire Steam library on their television.
Of course, this is basically like buying a computer setup anyhow. We’ll just have to see how prevalent the Steam Machine ends up being within the fighting game scene.
