- Supercell addresses Hero Journey backlash and explains how migration rewards were calculated.
- Missing rewards bug will be fixed, with ore compensation for affected players.
- Hero Journey is confirmed as a catch-up system, not an ore economy overhaul.
The June 2026 update in Clash of Clans from Supercell had everything going its way: a new Troop, Spell, and major QoL upgrades, and the much-awaited Global Chat resurrection. However, it didn’t turn out all happy and merry, as the Hero Journey introduction left the active player community disappointed.
Now, Supercell has responded to the growing backlash around the Hero Journey update in Clash of Clans, addressing both the rewards bug and the concerns many active players raised about the migration system. The developers have now shared a detailed explanation of how Hero Journey was designed to work.
Clash of Clans explains Hero Journey rewards bug
Supercell first addressed a bug that caused some Hero Journey rewards to appear as already claimed even when players had not received them. According to the developers, all missed rewards, including skins, resources, ores, magic items, and quest rewards, will be delivered to affected players soon.
As compensation, all impacted players will also receive a one-time compensation containing:
| Compensation Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Shiny Ore | 2000 |
| Glowy Ore | 50 |
| Starry Ore | 10 |
As for the different migration rewards for players in the same Town Hall levels, Supercell clarified that TH alone was never the deciding factor. The system also looked at your cumulative Hero levels, Epic Equipment ownership, and current equipment levels.
Hero Journey is meant as a catch-up mechanic
The makers clarified that Hero Journey was never meant to fix the ore economy directly. Instead, it was introduced as a catch-up mechanic to help newer and returning players access Epic Equipment faster.
The feature was built mainly for two groups: players who never had access to Epic Equipment and those whose Epic Equipment levels were too low to be useful at their current Town Hall. They revealed that nearly 40% of players did not own a single Epic Equipment as of February 2026.
The migration process worked in two steps. First, the system awarded new Epic Equipment based on your Hero Journey milestones. Then, if your account still had too few usable Epic Equipment for your Town Hall, additional levels were added to some of your existing equipment. This explains why some accounts received brand-new equipment while others only saw level boosts.
Ore chest rewards and future improvements
Another major complaint centered around missing ore chest rewards from Hero Journey quests. Supercell says these rewards were never supposed to be granted during migration. Quest nodes and their ore chests are meant to be earned manually over time by upgrading Heroes and completing Hero Journey quests.
This also explains why many maxed players felt they received fewer future rewards; their progress placed them further along the track, leaving fewer quest nodes ahead. In the end, the developers admitted the ore economy still needs work and said Hero Journey should be seen as one step toward improving progression, not the final solution.
