Tonight’s UFC 327 main card lineup featured a highly anticipated heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Josh Hokit.
Blaydes (19-6 MMA) was returning to the Octagon for the first time since earning a split decision win over Rizvan Kuniev this past June in Baku. Prior to that triumph, ‘Razor’ was coming off a first-round knockout loss to Tom Aspinall (see that here).
Meanwhile, Josh Hokit (9-0 MMA) had entered tonight’s fight sporting an undefeated professional record of 8-0. ‘The Incredible Hok’ was most previously seen in action at January’s UFC 324 event, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Denzel Freeman.
The fight resulted in one of the greatest heavyweight tilts of all time. Although the fight went the distance, it felt like the contest was close to being stopped on a number of different occasions throughout the fifteen-minute slugfest. Both men were visibly rocked on multiple occasions, but Josh Hokit seemed to be the aggressor for the good majority of the fan-friendly affair. After three rounds of remarkable punishment, ‘The Incredible Hok’ walked away with a unanimous decision victory, 29-28 on all three of the judges’ scorecards.
Check out how the pros reacted to the war between Hokit and Blaydes below:

Hokit. I think you could argue with 30-27 or 29-28, both going for Hokit. #UFC327

Josh Hokit was the only guy I wrestled my senior year of college who actually tried to beat me and not just stall.

Following the conclusion of tonight’s fight card, Dana White announced at the post-fight press conference that Josh Hokit would be taking home 2 performance bonuses, resulting in an extra $200k. Hokit’s counterpart, Blaydes, received a single performance bonus for his efforts ($100k).
It was also announced that ‘The Incredible Hok’ has already been booked for his next fight, a contest which will take place at the UFC White House event opposite Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis.
What did you think of tonight’s ‘Hokit vs. Blaydes’ blood bath?
