Former UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg didn’t take long to roast Ronda Rousey after news broke of her MMA comeback.
UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey will make her first MMA appearance in 10 years against fellow women’s MMA pioneer, Gina Carano, on May 16th in Los Angeles. This will mark Rousey’s first MMA fight since a loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.
Rousey’s MMA comeback is one of the most intriguing storylines of 2026. The fight will take place under the Most Valuable Promotions banner after Rousey’s attempt to get the bout booked in the UFC failed.
Fans’ reactions to Rousey’s comeback were mostly positive on Tuesday, as many were surprised that the UFC Hall of Famer was making a return after her recent health admissions. But one of Rousey’s longtime adversaries, Cris Cyborg, took a different tone in responding to the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s return.
Cris Cyborg slams Ronda Rousey’s comeback after ‘ducking’ UFC collision
In a recent post to X, Cyborg reacted to the news of Rousey’s return to the cage.
“[CLOWN] all those years of ducking me at 145 when we were both in our prime?!” Cyborg said of Rousey.
“I thought you had CTE or something?”
Cyborg is referencing Rousey’s previous remarks that she suffered from several severe concussions during her combat sports career. She and Cyborg were linked to a super fight many times during their UFC tenures, but a fight never materialized.
Cyborg returned to the cage with a dominant win over Sara Collins in December in the Professional Fighters’ League. She’s expected to fight later this year, which could potentially be her final fight in MMA.
In the meantime, Rousey is looking to earn her first MMA win since knocking out Bethe Correia at UFC 190. She lost back-to-back fights to Nunes and Holly Holm before hanging up the gloves.
