On May 30, the city of São Thomé das Letras, Minas Gerais, hosted the 2nd Winter Training of Templo Karate Kyokushin, in an event that combined technical practice, physical challenge, celebration, and direct contact with nature. The training took place at the Complexo Véu das Noivas, whose facilities were warmly opened for the group by its owner, Rodrigo.
The event also marked an important occasion for the dojo, as it celebrated 13 years since its foundation, giving even greater meaning to the training day and reinforcing the history and continuity of the work being developed by the group.
A total of 23 athletes from Varginha, Minas Gerais, took part in the training under the command and guidance of Sensei Rafael Pereira Lima. The program was designed to provide a demanding and memorable experience, connecting technical development with the martial spirit and the strength of the natural environment.
The training began with an intense kihon session of 500 punches and 1,000 kicks, followed by a trail run leading to the waterfalls. After that, the athletes carried out kata, conditioning, and kumite in the cold waters of the complex, creating a unique setting for practice and reinforcing discipline, endurance, and mental strength.
According to the participants, the experience was especially meaningful because of the natural and mountainous environment surrounding the training. The setting evoked and recalled some of the paths taken by Masutatsu Oyama, giving the event a symbolic atmosphere closely connected to the spirit and roots of Kyokushin.
The 2nd Winter Training of Templo Karate Kyokushin stood out as more than just a training session. It was a celebration of the dojo’s journey, an opportunity for collective growth, and a strong expression of the values that continue to define the path of Kyokushin Karate.
