I personally played and reviewed Beyond Galaxyland a while back, and I can’t recommend this sci-fi adventure enough, especially with how well it blends elements from several different game genres.

The game combines side-scrolling exploration, environmental puzzles, and turn-based party combat within detailed 2.5D locations. During battles, players can scan opponents to uncover information, target elemental weaknesses, and perform timed defensive inputs to reduce incoming damage.
Certain creatures can also be captured and later summoned during combat, adding a collection element to the party’s broader set of abilities.

Dicefolk approaches monster collection through a tactical dice-manipulation system. Players recruit creatures known as Chimeras, organize them into a team, and modify the dice that determine which actions are available during each round.

This makes it possible to delay dangerous attacks, force enemies into less effective moves, or arrange abilities in an order that creates favorable combinations. I played Battle Chasers: Nightwar some time ago, and its combat system remains the part I remember most clearly. Building Overcharge and combining the different roles of its six heroes gives battles more depth than its traditional structure might initially suggest.
Based on Joe Madureira’s comic-book series, Battle Chasers: Nightwar is a party-based RPG that combines turn-based battles with overworld exploration and procedurally arranged dungeons.
Players select three characters from a roster of six, with each hero contributing a different set of attacks, defensive tools, healing abilities, and support skills.
Its combat system includes Overcharge, which allows certain actions to generate temporary mana, and powerful Battle Bursts shared across the party. Outside combat, players can craft equipment, search for optional bosses, and revisit dungeons at higher difficulty levels for improved rewards.
