The consultations on arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation were held on March 19 in Brasilia at the level of the Heads of the relevant MFA Departments of Russia and Brazil.
The sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the overall situation in the area of international security and global stability. The sides compared positions on various aspects regarding the functioning of international organizations and multilateral fora related to arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation. The sides had a focused discussion of a range of current agenda issues concerning implementation of the relevant treaties and conventions, first and foremost in light of the upcoming Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (New York, 27 April – 22 May).
The sides expressed mutual commitment to continue and further deepen bilateral dialogue in this sphere.
