Gable Steveson’s whirlwind sporting career has continued, this time putting himself firmly in the sights of UFC officials with a brutal knockout victory.
The 25-year-old has gone on a rollercoaster since claiming an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo four years ago, having spent time in WWE and also trying out for NFL teams.
However, he may have now found his true calling inside a mixed martial arts cage.

Steveson last year started training with Jon Jones – one of the greatest fighters ever – as he looks to make a name for himself in the sport.
He made his professional debut in September and won via TKO in the first round, but his performance on Monday (AEDT) was something else entirely.
Gable Steveson knocks out Kevin Hein Twitter
Less than 30 seconds into his heavyweight fight for APFC – a promotion run by former UFC star Anthony Pettis that has links to the sport’s top organisation – Steveson landed a ferocious right hook on his opponent Kevin Hein, knocking him out immediately.
Before he even realised, Steveson shot a double-leg takedown and was looking to inflict more punishment before the referee quickly dived in and saved Hein.
The two-time NCAA national wrestling champion then climbed straight to the top of the cage and started celebrating while Hein was laid out on the canvas.
After the fight, Steveson made his intentions clear by mentioning UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard and it might only be a matter of time before he is performing on the big stage.
