Lorenzo Hunt is regarded by many as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the bare-knuckle world today, but someone who has a win over him in gloveless combat recently offered up his thoughts on that topic. The combatant in question is Gustavo Trujillo, who is unbeaten in bare-knuckle combat, and the BKB heavyweight champion has a one-hundred percent finishing rate in the sport. While Hunt is on the heels of a massive win at BKFC KnuckleMania VI over David Mundell, it was something from the fallout of KnuckleMania IV that Trujillo also got in a dig at.
It was at that tentpole event years back where Hunt failed a drug test and was out of action for well over a year after falling short in his bid for heavyweight gold to achieve the unprecedented defeat of becoming a three-division BKFC champion.
But ‘The Juggernaut’ has since returned to regain the BKFC light heavyweight title in a rematch with Josh Dyer and also halted former BKFC number one pound-for-pound fighter/ BKFC middleweight champion David Mundell at the aforementioned KnuckleMania VI earlier this month. When offering up his thoughts on former rival Lorenzo Hunt’s recent return to the world of bare-knuckle, Trujillo said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],
“Yes, Lorenzo for me is one of the best fighters that BKFC has. Even though he has some problems with doping and even though that he’s my baby, he’s my son. But he’s one of the best, I respect him because he’s a great fighter and has been my tough; I will say one of the best opponents that I had.”
When Lorenzo Hunt and Gustavo Trujillo threw down in the BKFC ring
Lorenzo Hunt and Gustavo Trujillo threw down at BKFC 10, with the former sustaining his first loss in bare knuckle to the latter. ‘The Cuban Assassin’ only needed sixty-one seconds to dispatch Hunt with a stoppage coming in the opening frame of their February 15th, 2020 clash.
After the recent six-year anniversary of their clash, it still seems like there is no love lost between Gustavo Trujillo and Lorenzo Hunt, with the two being kept apart from a sequel clash due to their championship status in rival bare-knuckle federations.
