On February 13, commencing at 4:00 p.m. (local time) for approximately 20 minutes, Minister of Defense Koizumi, who was visiting Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference, held a Japan-Italy Defense Ministerial Meeting with H.E. Mr. Guido Crosetto, Minister of Defence of the Italian Republic.

1. The two ministers welcomed the opportunity to hold their first face-to-face meeting and confirmed that they would continue to work together toward the success of the strategically important project of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
2. The two ministers also exchanged views on regional security issues and confirmed that they would work closely together, based on the view that security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific is inseparable.
