Tehran, IRNA — Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has expressed support for the indirect talks between Iran and the United States, while warning about the dangers of a potential war in the region.
Hussein met with Tom Barrack, the US Special Envoy to Syria, in Baghdad on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and joint coordination, particularly in counter-terrorism cooperation.
During the meeting, they addressed the tensions between Tehran and Washington, as well as the ongoing indirect negotiations between the two sides. The Iraqi foreign minister expressed concerns about the potential dangers of a war and its consequences for the entire region.
Hussein also reaffirmed Iraq’s support for a peaceful resolution and strongly supported the upcoming negotiations, set to be held in Geneva on Thursday, between Iranian and American representatives, mediated by Oman.
