Tehran, IRNA — Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, particularly targeting civilian areas in the south, as well as the destruction of civilian infrastructure and public facilities.
In a statement on Sunday, Baqaei described the Israeli regime’s military aggression against Lebanon and its targeting of civilian homes and public infrastructure as a serious violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and a clear example of a war crime.
Offering condolences to the families of the martyrs and expressing solidarity with the Lebanese government and people, the spokesperson urged the international community to take immediate and effective action to end the impunity of the Zionist regime.
Highlighting the ongoing violations of the ceasefire by the Israeli regime over the past 15 months, Baqaei emphasized the legal and political responsibilities of the supporters and guarantors of the ceasefire for these repeated breaches.
He stressed the need for the United Nations, especially the Security Council, to promptly fulfill its obligations to stop the aggressions and hold the occupying Zionist regime accountable for its violations of international law.
