His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), participated in the extraordinary ministerial-level meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States today, Sunday, March 8, 2026, held via videoconference. The session was chaired by His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (Chair of the Ministerial Session), with the participation of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Arab Foreign Ministers, and His Excellency Mr Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States.
At the outset of his participation, His Excellency Mr Albudaiwi expressed his gratitude to the Arab League for inviting the GCC to this emergency ministerial meeting. He underscored that the meeting convenes at a pivotal historical moment that necessitates Arab solidarity and synergy to issue an explicit and firm condemnation of the unjustified, illegal, and immoral Iranian aggressions. He pointed out that these attacks have targeted infrastructure, as well as civilian and oil facilities in GCC states, while commending the supportive stances of Arab nations toward the Council.
Furthermore, His Excellency called upon brotherly Arab states to support the draft resolution submitted by the GCC states to the United Nations (UN) Security Council to denounce the hostile military operations launched by Iran. He urged the international community to take serious and tangible steps in accordance with the UN Charter and international law, expressing his hope that Arab nations would work to mobilise international support for this resolution.
