The GE Aerospace Foundation aims to help revitalise the US manufacturing within the aerospace industry. It is doing this by launching a workforce skill training program worth over $30 million.
Opportunity To Become A Part Of The Growing Aerospace Industry
The announcement for this new initiative from GE Aerospace came from its CEO, Larry Culp, during an Axios event. In this event, he revealed that the GE Aerospace Foundation workforce skill training program will run over a course of five years.
During this time, it will prepare a new wave of workers who will help close the gap between the number of manufacturing jobs and the number of skilled workers to take these jobs. Overall, this initiative from GE Aerospace will invest in the American manufacturing industry.
According to Culp, it also works in line with President Trump’s “talk about the importance of apprenticeships and skills training.” He adds that “We’re really doing this as part of an industry-wide effort to make sure that aerospace not only has the capacity, but the capabilities to fulfil the missions that we see in front of us.” GM Aerospace says this program will “purchase new equipment, help hire new instructing staff and expand curricula, and alleviate financial barriers for students.”
The GE Aerospace Foundation Workforce Skill Training Program
As the US aerospace industry grows, there is a need for more workers to fill manufacturing roles. These workers might help shape the future of flight for not just the US but the world at large.
Culp says, “Inventing the future of flight requires workers with the cutting-edge skills ready to bring our visions to life.” GE Aerospace hopes to bring the dream of having such workers to reality with its training program.
While waiting for the new training program to start, GE Aerospace is also donating $2.5 million to support existing training efforts. This donation will be made available to four ongoing GE Aerospace programs in various states across the US.
