A spectacular boxing evening in Riyadh with eight fighters with only five losses ended with the fall of Anthony Yarde in the 7th round of the main fight – David Benavides retained the WBC world light heavyweight title.
Benavides’ record is now 31 wins in as many matches, Jard suffered his fourth loss.
In a match between the undefeated until the Riyadh ring, Brian Norman (28-1) was defeated by Devin Haney (33-0) by unanimous decision after 28 wins – (113-114, 110-117, 111-116).
Haney thus won the WBO title of world’s best welterweight.
Jesse Rodriguez remained an undefeated boxer (23-0), after knocking out Fernando Martinez in the 10th round, for his first loss (18-1).
The WBC, WBA and WBO championship belts in the 52,2 kilogram category were at stake, and Rodriguez scored with a devastating left hook!
Abdullah Mason maintained his maximum score (20-0) with a unanimous decision victory over Sam Knox (23-2), the judges had no dilemma (117-111, 115-113, 115-113).
With the victory, Mason became the WBO lightweight champion.
