Three soldiers with the Arkansas Army National Guard created tourniquets out of belts to save a fellow guardsman’s life after two heavy expanded mobility tactical trucks collided during training.Three tactical trucks were part of a convoy at Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center, Arkansas, on Monday. The first two trucks came to a stop, but the third was unable to and collided with the middle truck, the Arkansas National Guard said in a release. Eight soldiers were injured, one seriously. Latvia has confirmed that two uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAV) from Russia entered the country’s airspace and crashed within Latvian territory on 7 May 2026.   According to the Ministry of Defence, air surveillance radars identified the drones entering from Russia over the municipalities of Balvi and Ludza. Officials also reported a third UAV that crossed into the country’s airspace and later left it.  Nato Baltic Air Policing aircraft were deployed to patrol Latvia’s eastern border in immediate response. The aircraft operated under “established operational procedures” requiring visual identification and guarantees that any action would not endanger civilians or public safety before engagement.  …

For Marines who have toiled over assembling airfields in austere environments, relief may be on the way. The Marine Corps wants to develop robots that can do the grunt work of laying down the matting used to quickly construct Expeditionary Airfields, or EAF, in amphibious beachheads and other remote locations. “Currently, assembling EAF matting is a manual process carried out by Marines — a task that is physically demanding, labor-intensive and exposes personnel to potential hazards,” explained the Small Business Innovation Research proposal, which has a deadline of June 3.
