With all the talk of tiltrotors, you’d be forgiven for believing the era of conventional rotorcraft is winding down. But last year, the big three American rotorcraft manufacturers—Bell, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky—delivered a combined 199 military rotorcraft: 13 percent more than in 2024. By the NumbersSikorsky delivered the most in 2025, anchored by the H-60 line: a total of 101 Black Hawks and Seahawks. Boeing recorded the most growth, increasing annual deliveries by about 22 percent. Bell experienced the only decline among the three companies, delivering ten fewer aircraft in 2025 as AH-1Z exports taper and MV-22 Osprey production for the U.S. Navy and…
At first glance, the USS Boxer (LHD-4) looks like an aircraft carrier. Flat deck. Towering island. Jets and helicopters parked like chess pieces waiting to move. But here’s the twist, it’s not an aircraft carrier. Not really. The USS Boxer is something more flexible, maybe even more interesting: a floating launchpad for Marines, aircraft, and amphibious assaults, all rolled into one steel giant. If a traditional carrier is a sword, the USS Boxer amphibious assault ship is more like a Swiss Army knife, less flashy, but endlessly adaptable. Now imagine this scenario. A crisis unfolds near a coastline, no friendly bases nearby, no…

Early in the ongoing war against Iran, the Trump administration and its ally, Israel, believed they could foment a popular uprising to topple the Iranian regime. Part of that plan involved arming Kurdish fighters to infiltrate Iran from their locations in Iraq. The idea had intuitive logic. Kurdish fighters have built a reputation as capable battlefield partners of the U.S. military in recent years, particularly in the campaign against the Islamic State in Syria. Kurdish groups already maintain networks along the Iran–Iraq border and inside Iran. The marriage of their reputation and experience with U.S. capabilities, such as weapons, funding, training,…

PARIS — The Netherlands will add specialized drone operators and counter-drone units to its combat brigades starting in April, according to Dutch Chief of Defence Gen. Onno Eichelsheim, who said the country is the first to take that step. The Dutch armed forces already incorporate drones in their operations, and will expand that capability “significantly” by deploying 1,000 to 1,200 personnel specifically for drone and counter-drone operations, Eichelsheim said in the WNL Op Zondag podcast on Sunday.Drones have become ubiquitous on the battlefield in recent years, with much of the development driven by the war in Ukraine, where the government says…

I’d watch a rematch someday!Georges St. Pierre is certainly deserving of a biopic, but I wonder what the focus/story…
