AREA 35 is opening a month-long test featuring up to four players, new factions, and large-scale combined-arms combat.
Steam Early Access Begins for TINY METAL 2; Full Release Now Scheduled Spring 2027
Area 35 has begun the second part of their TINY METAL 2 campaign by launching a limited-time Steam early access beta for testing, starting April 2nd and closing out on April 29th, 2026.
Tiny Metal 2 is a turn-based tactical wargame. Players create their own forces by producing various types of units to fight in battles. Battles are quick to read; there are three different environments: land, air, and now also at sea.
Players can capture territory while employing large numbers of both ground combatants and aerial or naval assets. The new game builds upon the previous version by including larger battlefields than before. Additionally, it includes several additional playable commanders compared to the previous title.
This will be the first time that an installment within the Tiny Metal series has included naval combat.
The Tiny Metal franchise started with the release of Tiny Metal in December of 2017. It was released on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 as Area 35’s take on the classic Japanese style of arcade-style war games. In this initial game, players had to balance out their military strategy with a larger storyline involving political intrigue occurring after a king’s murder.
This was primarily accomplished through having infantry, tanks, helicopters, and other vehicles such as Tactical Vehicles and Fighter Jets competing against one another in order to gain control over the map.
Now there’s the first opportunity for the public to see the next installment of the franchise since the original TINY METAL: FULL METAL RUMBLE was released in 2019, and allows Area 35 to gather community feedback on all aspects of TINY METAL 2, especially regarding balance, pace, and overall gameplay.
To participate in this free limited-access testing, players must currently go to the STEAM store page for the game and register.

During the limited access beta area 35 plans to allow players to experience all of the elements found in the final version of the product. The free beta will include the same local co-op and single player modes found in the retail version of the game.
In addition, there are going to be two large-scale combined arms battles based upon land, sea and air vehicles.
The most significant addition to the battle system is a focus fire mechanism allowing multiple friendly units to work together and generate a single massive attack. Players will have the ability to try new commands while continuing to use many of the existing commands that were available in previous versions.
