Myanmar’s Thway Lin Htet has one thing on his mind heading into Friday. Hunt the knockout from the opening bell and leave no doubt.
The 22-year-old explosive finisher meets Thailand’s Kongchai Chanaidonmueang in a strawweight Muay Thai main event at ONE Friday Fights 140 on January 30 inside Bangkok, Thailand’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium. Both fighters are chasing that life-changing $100,000 contract that comes with elevation to the main roster. Thway Lin Htet carries a 31-2 striking record into this fight, along with a 5-2 promotional mark. Three of those wins came by finish. He made his ONE Friday Fights debut back in 2024 and hasn’t looked back since.
His last fight tested everything he had. Thway Lin Htet went toe-to-toe with Muay Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and even dropped the former two-sport, two-division ONE World Champion in the second round. Sam-A’s experience won out though. The veteran dropped Thway Lin Htet in the third and took home the unanimous decision.
That loss stings. But it also proved the Myanmar striker belongs among the best in the division. His power is real. His aggression creates problems. Against Kongchai, he plans to erase any doubts about his ability to compete at the highest level.
“I’m just following my regular training schedule,” he said.
Thway Lin Htet plans to overwhelm Kongchai from the start
Kongchai Chanaidonmueang brings serious credentials to this fight. The 23-year-old Thai striker is a former Rajadamnern Muay Thai World Champion with a 76-16 career striking record. He’s fought more times at ONE Friday Fights than any other athlete on the roster. His 15 promotional fights shows he’s faced everyone the promotion has thrown at him.
None of that matters to Thway Lin Htet. He’s watched the tape. He’s seen the openings. The Myanmar fighter plans to bring forward pressure that doesn’t let Kongchai settle into his usual rhythm. If he can force the Thai veteran to fight backing up from the opening seconds, he likes his chances of finding that knockout shot.
The plan is simple but effective. Apply relentless pressure in the first round. Don’t give Kongchai any breathing room to establish his game. Then watch for the opening and capitalize with maximum violence.
“My plan for the first round is to put on the pressure so he can’t find his rhythm,” he said. “From there, I’ll look for the right opening and try to find a way to score a knockout.
“I know I have to make a name for myself and prove my worth as a fighter. That’s why I give it my all — to show the fans that I’m a true warrior. I definitely won’t let the fans down.”
