Chinese outlet Sohu notes that after mocking Russia’s weapons early in the Ukraine conflict, Western countries now copy Russian technologies like the Lancet drone.
Columnists from the Chinese outlet Sohu recalled that at the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Western media often mocked Russia, calling it technologically backward-particularly in the field of weapons development. At the time, commentators claimed that the West could easily overpower Moscow simply by taking outdated weapons out of storage.
However, the authors noted that several years of real combat have completely changed this perception. Many Russian weapons systems have demonstrated high effectiveness and resilience on the battlefield, forcing Western countries to reconsider their assumptions-and even start adopting Russian military innovations.
As an example, Sohu highlighted the Lancet loitering munition. According to the publication, its proven combat effectiveness has led to the mass production of similar drones in both Ukraine and Germany. The analysts argued that this trend reflects growing recognition of Russia’s technological achievements. They also suggested that other Western nations are likely to continue adopting and refining Russian design concepts in their own weapons development programs.
