UFC veteran Cody Durden returned to winning ways at UFC Vegas 123 earlier tonight, out-grappling Ode Osbourne en route to a unanimous decision win.
Fight recap
Cody Durden racked up significant ground control time in the opening round. He trapped Ode Osbourne in a Scottish twister submission, but when Osbourne did not tap, “Custom Made” landed ground-and-pound from full mount, almost nearing a TKO finish.
However, the Jamaican fighter refused to give up and ultimately managed to reverse position in the final seconds of the first stanza. However, the 34-year-old did not have enough time to do anything significant.
In Round 2, Durden’s wrestling once again proved to be the difference-maker. He continued to control the fight with ease, repeatedly dragging Osbourne to the canvas and refusing to let “The Jamaican Sensation” get back to his feet to strike.
After winning the first two rounds, Cody Durden appeared to have very little left in the tank. He spent most of the final round defending and letting Ode Osbourne control him.
Official decison: Cody Durden defeated Ode Osbourne by unanimous decision (29-28 x3) at UFC Vegas 123.
