The reveal of Ryu and Ken’s master
The Street Fighter movie is set to hit theaters on October 16, 2026. Based on what we’ve seen from the trailers, Ryu and Ken are very likely the main characters of this adaption.
A new teaser trailer was recently dropped that provided us with even more insight about Ryu and Ken’s backstories together. We’ve already previously seen that Ryu has seemingly given up on fighting, likely due to an incident with the Satsui no Hado.
At one point during the teaser, we’re treated to a photograph featuring Ryu and Ken when they were younger. While Ryu is clearly the more disciplined of the two, Ken looks like he’s ready for a party.
Standing over the two, we can also see that Gouken, the teacher of Ryu and Ken, is also present. He’s wearing a black gi with his arms crossed.
It’s also worth pointing out that he’s wearing prayer beads. Generally speaking, it’s known that Akuma, Gouken’s brother, took Goutetsu’s prayer beads after killing him.
Of course, Gouken has been depicted with prayer beads before, though he stopped wearing them after his grand return in Street Fighter 4.
