This week’s product, Blue Ops Variant 7 uncrewed surface vessel (USV), delivers enhanced mission flexibility to support maritime operations including strike, force protection, and coastal security in complex environments. Introduced by Blue Ops, a subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, the Variant 7 provides a high-performance, seaworthy platform first, then layers in modular autonomy.
Combat Tested
Designed, built, and assembled in the United States, the Variant 7 USV is tested daily in actual combat and designed to operate either autonomously or in manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) configurations. The technology already has more than 10,000 hours of operating time in live combat missions. Moving into production will accelerate Red Cat’s roadmap for USVs that integrate seamlessly with its existing family of ISR and unmanned aerial systems, supporting multi-domain and swarming operations.
Built and Engineered with MOSA

This focus on domestic sourcing supports supply chain security and aligns with broader U.S. defense priorities aimed at strengthening the national maritime industrial base.
Multi-domain Operations
The vessel is also intended to integrate seamlessly with emerging autonomous technologies and multi-domain operations, including coordinated air, land, and sea missions. The Variant 7 integrates seamlessly with Red Cat’s suite of ISR drone systems, supporting multi-domain coordination and networked autonomous operations. Recent investments by Red Cat in autonomy and swarm robotics technologies further position the V7 as a key component of the company’s broader family of autonomous defense systems.
