Welcome back to Strategy and Wargaming! This week things have been a little bit quieter than usual, but let’s get into it! We finally have a release window for Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition; There’s a new Pike & Shot game on the horizon; Endless Legend 2 is out next week; Star Wars Zero Company gets much-needed performance improvements; The Home of Wargamers 2026 is right around the corner, and so much more! Let’s dive straight into the best strategy and wargaming news of this week!
New Warcraft 3 Campaign After 23 Years Announced At Blizzcon 2026
BlizzCon 2026 just wrapped up, and it was a stacked show for fans of Blizzard IPs. Diablo V, Heroes of the Storm, and even StarCraft are back on the menu! Yes, we didn’t get StarCraft 3, but we are going to get a StarCraft shooter. Unfortunately, it’s only arriving in 2030, so until then, let’s look at the new Warcraft 3 campaign that came out today! Called “Forsaken Kingdom”, this new single-player campaign takes players back to the fall of Lordaeron and its transformation into the Undercity. Alongside the Campaign comes the 3.0 update for Warcraft 3 Reforged, giving the game a massive visual overhaul and a revamped World Editor.
Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition Launches Early 2027
The announcement of Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition had many fans of the series extremely excited for its return, including you, who recently spent your entire Summer vacation at the beach, at the gym, and replaying the original Company of Heroes campaign. Now, we don’t have to wonder anymore when this absolute… Relic will come out! Well, sort of. Relic Entertainment announced that Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition will launch in early 2027.
We already know everything there is to know about the Definitive Edition of the game, but here’s the rundown: It will include the original title alongside its iconic Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor expansions, while being built on a fully upgraded 64-bit platform, improved visuals such as lighting, shadows, and textures, and modding compatibility for the 20 years of archived mods available.
Europae Invicta: Pike and Shot

This week I came across Europae Invicta: Pike and Shot, a new historical RTS from Puntigames. Set during the era of Pike and Shot – quite possibly the most underrepresented period of warfare history- the game looks good enough to earn a place on my Steam wishlist, and while we have very little detail about it, we can gather an idea that it’s trying to mix strategic, or at least operational, elements with RTS at a tactical scale.
Endless Legend 2 Out September 22nd

Endless Legend 2 is almost out, as it’s coming out on September 22nd, 2026, exactly one year after it released into Steam’s Early Access. Early Access metrics show players have already revealed 1.1 billion tiles, looted 900,000 legendary items, played 70 million turns, and created 17,500 unique factions. Having played the EA version of the game, I have found no substantial reason to prefer Endless Legend 2 over the first one, a game that’s one of the genre’s best.
Star Wars Zero Company First Patch Fixes Some Performance

On my first impressions and subsequent review of Star Wars Zero Company, I pointed and negatively wiggled my finger at the game for its extremely poor performance, stutters, long turn-processing times, and even sound-mixing (and even sound-breaking) problems. It looks like the Zero Company working at Bit Reactor has decided to fix their wrongdoings by releasing the 1.1 patch, addressing several performance and stability issues, problems with the cinematics, and several other bugs.
While I praise the effort, I just booted up the game to see if things improved, and the first thing it did was start at 100 frames, stutter, and drop back to 50. The worst part is that Zero Company is genuinely one of the best strategy games made in the last decade or so.
Home of Wargamers 2026

Well, well! So the Home of Wargamers 2026 is almost upon us, as this illustrious event is set to happen on September 30th, 2026 at 7 pm CEST, and I’m left wondering if this will be the time we will finally have a look at the new Combat Mission 3 engine. Well, I don’t know about that, but I’ll be very sad if that doesn’t happen! Confirmed appearances go to Strategic Command, Armored Brigade II, Decision Point, Decisive Campaigns, Flashpoint Campaigns: Lowland Lions, Commander: Europe at War, and Nuclear War Simulator. The appearance of Decisive Campaigns has me hopeful for an experience like Ardennes Offensive, one of my favorite wargames of all time, and the first title to gain a Golden Seal from Strategy and Wargaming!
You can see the whole thing live on YouTube and Twitch.
