Ian Machado Garry has weighed in on how he plans to earn another title shot and which top UFC welterweight contender he wants to face.
Garry most recently lost to welterweight titleholder and P4P king Islam Makhachev by unanimous decision at UFC 330.
Now, “The Future” hopes to earn a second title shot soon and believes beating No. 3-ranked 170-pound contender Michael Morales can earn him a second title opportunity. During an interview with Eze Talks Sports, the Dubliner said:
“For me, there’s only one fight that makes sense right now, and that’s Michael Morales. When I beat him, I’m the only one who deserves a title shot… I go out there, and I finish Michael Morales, get my hand raised; it’s undeniable that I’m right back up there for a title shot.”

Undefeated knockout artist Morales last competed at UFC 322, where he stopped Sean Brady in Round 1. After that, the Ecuadorian fighter wanted to fight for the title, but Garry received the title opportunity.
Morales served as official backup for the UFC 330 Makhachev vs. Garry title bout and currently does not have any bout scheduled.
Islam Makhachev, on the other hand, after successfully defending his title, now wants to face top contender Carlos Prates. Footage suggests that Prates has already started training for a potential bout against Makhachev. Given the Brazilian’s impressive performances in his last three fights, there is no doubt that he is the most deserving contender at the moment.

After sharing the octagon with both Carlos Prates and Islam Makhachev, Ian Machado Garry has now weighed in on a potential Makhachev vs. Garry bout. During the same interview, the Irishman added:
“Can Carlos land that one punch to knock him out or can Islam take him down and finish him. My heart is telling that Carlos can get it done.”
