MCLEAN, Virginia. RunSafe Security is positioning its new Operational Software Assurance (OSA) platform around identifying vulnerabilities in fielded software, protecting deployed binaries and firmware at runtime, and generating cybersecurity compliance evidence, the company announced in a statement.
The platform is intended for software used in defense systems, critical infrastructure, vehicles, industrial equipment, and other systems that can remain deployed for extended periods, the company says. RunSafe states that its technology analyzes compiled software and firmware for vulnerabilities and dependencies, determines whether identified vulnerabilities are reachable, and applies runtime protections without requiring source-code changes or waiting for software patches.
RunSafe says the approach is aimed at reducing the risk posed by vulnerabilities in software that cannot be patched or replaced without testing, certification, or operational disruption. The company states that its runtime-protection technology originated in Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)-funded research and is available through the Department of War’s Iron Bank software repository for defense users.
