It appears we have not seen the last of Dillon Danis under the Real American Freestyle banner.
Danis and former UFC middleweight titleholder Khamzat Chimaev had a wrestling match at RAF 10 that went off the rails. After Danis threw his feet at Chimaev while on his back, “Borz” delivered a leg kick. A brawl between both sides ensued.
“El Jefe” has developed a reputation for starting fights both in and out of competition. His most infamous brawl put an end to his foul-marred boxing match against Logan Paul, but the incident with team Chimaev is up there.
While Danis is known for being unpredictable on camera, RAF co-founder Chad Bronstein told MMAFighting that there is no ban in place for the former Bellator star. Bronstein insists that Danis has been a pleasure to work with when the cameras stop rolling.
“Yeah, you’ll see Dillon Danis back in RAF,” Bronstein said. “I don’t need to ban Dillon because we stepped in. I’ll tell you this about Dillon, [and] I work with Dillon, I’ve worked with Dillon behind the scenes a lot. So has Izzy, and so has our team, and he’s very respectful to everybody in our organization, but we did have to deal with certain things with him.
“But I’m not going to say I’m banning him and that we won’t see him on the stage, because I do think he’ll be back eventually. And, again, for wrestling and everything that he’s done with us, he’s been nothing but respectful in our organization. Now [the brawl] was something we don’t ever want, which he knows, and we’ve had that conversation, but I do think we’ll see Dillon Danis back eventually.”
Danis has two losses under the RAF banner. There’s the aforementioned 10-0 defeat to Chimaev, and the 14-4 loss against Colby Covington back in March.
How soon RAF will want to bring Danis back into the fold remains to be seen.
