August is about to get considerably busier for turn-based strategy fans. Warhounds, a mercenary-focused tactical game drawing inspiration from XCOM and Jagged Alliance, will launch for PC on August 11, 2026.
The newly released date trailer offers another look at the game’s lethal firefights, squad management, and alternate-future African setting. Developed by Everplay DMCC and published by Brightika, Warhounds follows an elite mercenary unit navigating a conflict shaped by military organizations, political movements, and powerful corporations.
Its complete story-driven campaign will unfold across jungles, urban slums, military facilities, and business districts, with missions ranging from sabotage and civilian rescues to joint operations and VIP evacuations.
Inspired by games such as XCOM and Jagged Alliance, Warhounds places players in command of an elite mercenary unit operating across a continent divided by competing military and corporate factions.

Its complete story-driven campaign will unfold across jungles, urban slums, military facilities, and business districts, with missions ranging from sabotage and civilian rescues to joint operations and VIP evacuations.
Combat outcomes are determined by readable battlefield conditions such as distance, positioning, elevation, cover, weapon choice, and line of fire. Destructible environments, verticality, and cone-based overwatch provide additional tactical options, while the high lethality of combat is intended to make every movement and attack meaningful.
Players will assemble squads using five combat classes: Assault, Sniper, Machine Gunner, Grenadier, and Specialist.

Each mercenary can be equipped for the objective ahead, with drones, scanners, optical camouflage, powered exoskeletons, and other advanced equipment becoming available over the course of the campaign.
The strategic layer continues aboard a repurposed cargo ship serving as the squad’s mobile headquarters.
Between operations, commanders will recruit and treat mercenaries, improve different sections of the ship, purchase equipment, manage supplies and finances, and gather intelligence. Relationships with the game’s factions will also affect the campaign, unlocking different missions, allies, weapons, and consequences according to the player’s decisions.

Among the forces competing for influence are the African People’s Front, the Shield Corps, and the armed division of the Cai-Shen Corporation.
Each faction employs its own equipment and battlefield tactics, requiring players to adjust their squad composition and approach from one contract to the next.
Warhounds will be released on Steam on August 11, 2026. No console versions have been announced. The latest release-date trailer below provides a closer look at its tactical combat and campaign systems.
