Players will be able to try out Blade for the first time as well as Episode Mode
Update: PlayStation has now revealed another villain is joining the Marvel Tokon open beta roster to bring the available characters up to 16. More information for the fighters and beginner’s guide has been added to our story below.
After running a couple of closed tests, it’s finally almost time for everyone to be able to get their hands on Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
PlayStation just revealed all of the major and important information regarding Marvel Tokon’s incoming Open Beta Test on both the PlayStation 5 and also PC for the first time.
Update: Sony and Arc System Works are apparently adding more to the beta content than previously revealed.
Green Goblin is joining the test’s roster to showcase his first appearance as an official fighting game character.
So now that only leaves four of the launch roster on the outside between Deadpool, Loki, Carnage and Hulk, but perhaps that’ll change again as we get closer to the start date.

Original Story: Marvel Tokon’s beta will surprisingly contain 16 of the main roster of 20 characters, so almost everyone can be tested.
That includes one of the newest revealed fighters in Blade from the Samurai Outriders team, but Deadpool and Loki will not be joining in here.
The rest of the characters are Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Ghost Rider, Doctor Doom, Green Goblin and Magneto.
Players can battle across six selectable stages with Marvel’s New York (Day), Savage Land, X-Mansion, Knowhere, Wakanda, and Marvel’s New York (Night).
As for modes, Tokon’s beta offers Casual, Ranked and Open Lobby online matches, but that’s not all.
They’re also including Training Mode, the Start Up Battle tutorial and even an early look at Marvel’s Episode Mode.
Players will be able to check out the first three chapters of the Amazing Guardians’ story.
The beta is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 24, at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET and run through Sunday, July 26, at 11:59 p.m. PT / 2:59 a.m. ET.
Pre-downloads begin from the store two hours before the test begins at 10 p.m. PT / 1 a.m. ET.
Sony states that players do not need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online in this beta, but everyone will need a PlayStation Network account even on PC.
