Most footwear brands deliberately entered CrossFit. INOV8 didn’t. The British company built its early reputation designing lightweight trail running shoes, but one model unexpectedly found a second home inside CrossFit boxes and communities. What began as an organic discovery by early athletes quickly turned INOV8 into one of the biggest original footwear brands associated with the sport.
Many years later, CrossFit has evolved dramatically. Training is more demanding, footwear is more specialised. Throughout those changes, INOV8 has continued to innovate and work with some of CrossFit’s biggest names, alongside the next generation of elite competitors.

Today, athletes including Dani Speegle, Scott Panchik, Keira McManus, Reese Littlewood, Lewin Tubuna and Tayla Howe represent the brand, each bringing a unique story and helping to shape INOV8’s growing presence in the worldwide functional fitness scene.

How INOV8 Accidentally Entered CrossFit
INOV8 was born in 2003 in England’s Lake District after founder Wayne Edy recognised an opportunity to create lightweight off-road running shoes with exceptional grip and a natural feel. The company’s first shoe, the MUDROC 290, reflected that philosophy by combining lightweight performance with confidence on challenging (and often wet) terrain. The products were designed, tested and forged in the fells of Northern England.
CrossFit, however, wasn’t part of the original business plan. In 2009, INOV8 released the F-LITE 230, a shoe designed for mountain runners tackling fast European races on hard-packed trails. Its lightweight construction, relatively flat sole and outstanding grip happened to match exactly what early CrossFit athletes were looking for.
Athletes discovered the shoe without any targeted marketing. As word spread throughout the rapidly growing CrossFit community in the United States, demand increased dramatically. INOV8 responded by shipping as many shoes as possible across the Atlantic before increasing production. The company had unintentionally become one of CrossFit’s original footwear brands.
Athletes Who Helped Build the Brand
This natural fit between INOV8 and CrossFit athletes continued to grow. INOV8 partnered with several iconic OG names, including Sam Briggs, Dan Bailey, Anna Tunnicliffe and Kara Saunders.
These athletes helped establish INOV8 as one of the sport’s most recognizable footwear brands during CrossFit’s formative years and laid the foundation for today’s athlete program. INOV continue to build on that exceptional foundation by partnering with the athletes you will learn more about below, and they also worked with 5x CrossFit Games athlete Dallin Pepper.
From the Original Box Brand to Modern Performance
The CrossFit landscape has changed enormously since those early days. Athletes now expect shoes that can handle Olympic lifting, gymnastics, sprinting, rope climbs, box jumps and running within the same workout. At the same time, many competitors also train for HYROX events, endurance races and road running.
Rather than only relying on its heritage, INOV8 has spent the last three years re-engineering its footwear around a new philosophy of natural movement. The company introduced NATURALFIT, a new shoe shape designed around the biology of the foot. The design secures the heel and midfoot while allowing greater room through the toe box, helping improve stability, grip, balance and natural movement.

It reflects INOV8’s wider philosophy, to engineer footwear that works with the foot rather than forcing the foot to adapt to the shoe. Once again the community has reacted incredibly favorably to the excellent engineering.
Meet Team INOV8
INOV8’s athlete roster reflects every stage of the sport. Alongside established CrossFit legends, the company continues investing in young athletes capable of becoming future Games contenders. The result is a team that combines experience, leadership and emerging talent rather than focusing exclusively on current podium finishers.
Dani Speegle
Few athletes have become as recognizable within modern CrossFit as Dani Speegle.
A six-time CrossFit Games athlete, Dani has also won The Titan Games, become an American Gladiator and founded the Girls Who Eat movement, encouraging women to embrace strength, confidence and positive body image.

After competing as a gymnast throughout childhood, injury led her towards other sports before she discovered CrossFit during college. She immediately committed herself to the sport, eventually qualifying for six CrossFit Games and recording a career-best individual finish of 13th. During competition she excels at
She rejoined Team INOV8 in 2024 and has become one of the company’s flagship athletes, including collaborating on a limited-edition F-LITE MAX. Beyond competition, Dani’s influence extends far beyond the gym.
“I want other women to love and celebrate their bodies. Women can do anything and be anything, lifting each other up is what helps us all rise together.”
Dani combines elite performance with community impact. Her commitment to empowering others reflects INOV8’s investment in athletes who inspire participation as much as competition.
Scott Panchik
Scott Panchik has earned legendary status within CrossFit. He is known for being an incredibly mentally tough competitor and a great all rounder. At the Games, whenever the event looked particularly brutal, you knew he would be one of the athletes that would be near the top of the rankings. I remember watching him win an event with wall walks. After the event, as he stood with the commentator with a a big smile on his face, he was asked how he won. He replied, “I knew it was going to suck, and that’s ok”.
A ten-time CrossFit Games athlete, he added another remarkable achievement in 2025 by winning the CrossFit Games Masters title in the 35-39 division before travelling to Scotland for the Rogue Invitational and leading community workouts alongside Team INOV8.

Years of elite competition also allowed Scott to contribute directly to footwear development through his own signature F-LITE MAX.
“As the sport has continued to evolve, so has the footwear. It’s been a lot of fun to share feedback from all my years competing and see it come to life in this new shoe.”
Keira McManus
Despite being only sixteen years old, Keira McManus has already established herself as one of CrossFit’s brightest prospects.
After winning the CrossFit Games 14-16 division in both 2024 and 2025, she joined Team INOV8 ahead of the 2026 season before making the jump into Elite competition at Wodapalooza.

Her story with the company began much earlier. The first training shoes she ever wore were a hand-me-down pair of INOV8s from her older brother, making her arrival on Team INOV8 especially meaningful.
Reese Littlewood
Reese Littlewood transitioned from competitive gymnastics into CrossFit before quickly becoming one of the sport’s most exciting young athletes.
After finishing fourth at the CrossFit Games twice as a teenager, she captured the 16-17 Age Group title in 2024 before moving into the individual ranks.

Balancing full-time university studies with twice-daily training sessions, Reese has built her career through consistency and discipline while maintaining perspective outside the gym.
Lewin Tubuna
Lewin Tubuna is already making a significant impression on the scene whilst competing in the teenage divisions.

The Hartlepool athlete won the 2024 iF3 Functional Fitness Youth World Championship while also finishing fifth and twelfth at successive CrossFit Games. This year he was 4th in the Open. 1st in the world in Quarterfinals.
He started CrossFit to improve his strength and fitness for Rugby, but found that the former overtook the latter. “I just found myself, when I’ve got spare time, rather than going in the garden and flinging a rugby ball about, I prefer going into the gym and flinging a barbell about. Not having a clue what’s going on, but just doing it for the fun of it.”
Known for his speed, athleticism and fearless approach to competition, Lewin continues challenging older athletes while developing into one of Britain’s most exciting prospects.
Tayla Howe
Tayla Howe brings a diverse sporting background to Team INOV8.
After competing in gymnastics and athletics during her youth, she represented Wales at the 2018 Commonwealth Games as a weightlifter before focusing fully on CrossFit.

Training primarily from her home gym, Tayla has continued climbing the rankings and finished ninth in the women’s division of the 2026 CrossFit Open.
Looking Ahead
Rather than relying solely on its reputation, the brand has redesigned its footwear around natural movement, expanded its training range and assembled a roster that spans multiple generations of CrossFit.
From legends like Scott Panchik to global personalities such as Dani Speegle and rising stars including Keira McManus, Reese Littlewood, Lewin Tubuna and Tayla Howe, INOV8 is investing in athletes who reflect where functional fitness has been, and where it is heading in the future.
CrossFit has changed enormously since athletes first discovered the F-LITE 230 back in 2009. Training is broader, competition is deeper and the line between CrossFit, running and hybrid racing continues to blur. INOV8 has evolved alongside that journey. Combining its heritage with modern footwear innovation and a growing team of elite athletes, the British brand remains committed to helping athletes like you unlock their natural potential, whatever their next challenge may be.
