Finland, Norway and Latvia sign Statement of Intent on development and cooperation related to Patria TRACKX vehicles

Finland, Norway and Latvia have signed a Statement of Intent concerning development and cooperation related to Patria TRACKX armoured tracked vehicles at the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara today, on 7 July. The purpose of the Statement of Intent is to share information on the further development of the Patria TRACKX vehicle and the results of field trials, and it enables the participating countries to explore potential joint procurements of the vehicle as well as joint development.

Co-funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF), Patria TRACKX is a new-generation armoured tracked vehicle developed through the multinational Future Highly Mobile Augmented Armoured Systems (FAMOUS) programme.

“Europe and allied nations need a new level of mobility that provides land forces with a capability that no single nation can deliver on its own. Multinational cooperation and joint procurement are the best way to turn shared requirements into fielded capability and interoperability. The Statement of Intent shows that all-terrain mobility is a strategic capability area for NATO and European defence, addressing the need to renew ageing armoured vehicle fleets with a European vehicle,” says Panu Routila, President and CEO of Patria.

The multinational TRACKX cooperation builds on the successful Patria 6×6-based Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) model, where joint requirements, coordinated procurement and shared life-cycle support have accelerated deliveries, improved interoperability and strengthened security of supply among like-minded European and NATO nations.

“The success of the ongoing CAVS programme shows the value of multinational cooperation. This Statement of Intent confirms strong interest in a common tracked vehicle platform that can strengthen interoperability, joint capability and life-cycle efficiency. Patria TRACKX is designed for all conditions, with high mobility, protection, situational awareness and operational range. It is also well suited to Ukraine’s needs,” says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.

The aim of the cooperation is to create a joint procurement arrangement among the participating nations, enabling national serial procurements from 2027 onward. Finland’s and Sweden’s pre-series preparation agreement remains an important parallel process supporting technology cooperation and the readiness of TRACKX for future procurements.
