Khamzat Chimaev has issued a bold warning to Sean Strickland.
Earlier this year at UFC 328, “Tarzan” dethroned Chimaev by split decision to become a two-time middleweight title holder. Reports from Chimaev’s camp alleged that the Chechen-born Emirati had a very tough weight cut, and therefore, come fight night, “Borz” was not “Borz.”
Although Chimaev, after the title loss, had told Dana White right away that he wanted to move up to 205 pounds and chase two-division glory, the former has changed his mind in the last few weeks. Now, the 32-year-old wants to reclaim what he lost at UFC 328 before chasing a second belt.
Chimaev recently called out Strickland again, issuing a bold warning on X:
“Accept the fight, don’t run, I’ll beat you anyway. The sooner this happens, the easier it will be to breathe 😁 @SStricklandMMA”

What Dana White said about potential Sean Strickland vs. Khamzat Chimaev 2 title bout
Dana White has previously said that the UFC brass have not decided if they will grant Khamzat Chimaev an immediate title rematch. However, White also stated that Sean Strickland is game to fight anyone next.
Originally, “Tarzan” said that he would like to run it back with Nassourdine Imavov next, who is on a 5-fight winning streak. “The Sniper” is also frustrated at not getting a title shot, despite being the most deserving contender.
Strickland had injured his shoulder and nose during his fight with Chimaev. Fortunately, the American fighter did not have to go under the knife to treat a small muscle tear and AC separation. Stem cell therapy has helped Strickland recover really quickly, and most recently, he was seen at the UFC PI, training with Indian UFC lightweight fighter Anshul Jubli.
Khamzat Chimaev mocks Sean Strickland
Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland had squashed their beef after the UFC 328 title bout, and the former even decided to put the belt around “Tarzan” after the latter dethroned him.
However, the rivalry turned into friendship before reigniting, which is clearly evident from Chimaev’s latest remarks. A netizen asked “Borz” earlier today why he decided to wrap the belt around Strickland, and the former champ quipped:
“Because I want him to clean my belt 😂”
