Bittium Corporation press release on 25 June 2026, at 7.15 p.m. (CEST +1) Finnish defence technology company Bittium and Ukrainian secure communications manufacturer HIMERA have agreed to cooperate on strengthening the defence capabilities of Finland and Ukraine by combining their respective communications technologies and expertise. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdańsk, Poland, on 25-26 June 2026, formalizing their cooperation.
Bittium Wireless Ltd and HIMERA Ukraine LLC have agreed today to explore interoperability and integration across Bittium’s Defence & Security portfolio and HIMERA’s field-proven tactical communications solutions. The cooperation aims to explore opportunities for integrating the two companies’ technologies to address the evolving communications needs of modern defence forces.
The partnership brings together two complementary strengths. Bittium is a company with several decades of experience developing solutions for tactical and secure communications in close cooperation with the Finnish Defence Forces. Its Defence & Security offering spans the Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network™ (TAC WIN) system, the Bittium Tough SDR™ software-defined radio family, Bittium MissionNet™ vehicular system, and secure Bittium Tough Mobile™ devices and Bittium SafeMove® cybersecurity solutions certified to NATO Restricted and national Confidential level. Founded in Ukraine in 2022, HIMERA was created to address the need for reliable and resilient tactical communications in modern warfare. Inspired by firsthand operational experience, the company set out to develop communication systems that combine resistance to electronic warfare, ease of use, and scalability. What began as an idea quickly grew into a team and a field-proven product used by defence units across Ukraine. Together these technologies provide defence customers with a complete, scalable communications capability from the soldier to the commander.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at URC 2026, the Ukraine Recovery Conference co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine in Gdańsk on 25-26 June 2026. This year the annual conference introduced a dedicated security and defence dimension for the first time, reflecting the growing international consensus that Ukraine’s reconstruction and long-term security are inseparable.
“Finland and Ukraine both know what it means to take security seriously. HIMERA has demonstrated extraordinary capability under real operational pressure, and Bittium brings a deep portfolio of tactical and secure communications solutions built alongside the Finnish Defence Forces over more than two decades. Together we can offer something genuinely valuable to both countries, and beyond. We look forward to developing solutions that serve both Finnish and Ukrainian defence forces, and that can grow to meet NATO needs,” said Tommi Kangas, Senior Vice President, Bittium Defence & Security.”
Cooperation between Finland and Ukraine, as well as between Bittium and HIMERA, is a very natural one. We face many of the same security challenges. There is a lot of knowledge and experience we can learn from our partners, and there are valuable lessons from modern warfare that we can bring to this partnership. Together, we can help provide both countries with secure and reliable communications solutions,” said Misha Rudominski, co-founder and CEO of HIMERA.
