I came across this news a bit late, but there’s been a flood of major announcements and noteworthy updates these past few days. Still, as they say, better late than never.
The news in question is the announcement of a new entry in the now fairly well-known SRPG Dark Deity, revealed by developer Sword & Axe LLC. A new strategy RPG in the series and the concluding chapter of the Terrazael trilogy.
In Dark Deity 3, Terrazael is facing what could possibly be its largest threat yet. Cults of death are spreading across the entire land; the god of death is approaching; and all elements of the world are slowly collapsing.
There are two armies moving in opposite directions, and the story will shift between the world of the living and the world of the dead.
Gwyn and Arthur Sildairan, heirs to the Eternal Order, drive much of the campaign. While Gwyn heads a military force throughout Terrazael to hunt down and eradicate the death cults that are infecting the living world, Arthur takes his own road.

He guides a group of scholars into the afterlife to study the gods themselves. Both armies travel in their own respective ways, but they are ultimately connected to the war.
Dark Deity 3 continues with the series’ emphasis on grid-based tactical combat. Players will utilize various skills to assist their allies (healing), control the battlefield (space), break apart enemy formations, and quicken their progress through the story.

Morale is also mentioned as a significant element of the overall campaign. This is an important factor to consider since morale can influence how you take risks. A strong army will continue pushing forward, whereas a weak army may require fewer units to safely navigate challenging maps.
The game features 28 playable units across approximately 35 chapters, 74 playable classes, more than 100 weapons, and more than 60 rings, which determine how a player’s build should look.

As previously stated, Dark Deity 3 will include a built-in randomizer that can modify character recruitment order, loot, abilities, passives, enemies and more.
The game will include a full voice-narrated storyline that will be accompanied by custom in-game manga illustrations that represent pivotal events within the story.
Currently, there is no confirmation of an official launch window. Dark Deity 3 is currently marked as “coming soon” on Steam, and you can already wishlist it. For anyone interested in Indie SRPGs, this is one to keep on your radar, especially if Dark Deity 3 uses its dual-campaign format effectively, morale layer, and extensive class system appropriately.
