The story-driven RPG follows two groups traveling toward the same sacred peak, with command-based battles and no random encounters.
Solo Japanese developer Konno Tobari has announced Echoes of the Flame, a story-driven 2.5D turn-based RPG in development for PC via Steam. The game is planned to launch first in Japanese in late 2026, with English and Simplified Chinese support expected to follow in 2027.

The story follows two separate parties as they travel from opposite sides of the world toward the sacred peak of Coral.
Both groups are tied to the Flame Wardens, protectors of a world where the cycle of souls plays a central role. One party follows Haku, joined by his demi human friend Kaji and the former mafia member Mikoto.

The other follows Ren, who travels with his childhood friend Maruka and the elder Rakan. Their chapters unfold through alternating perspectives, giving the RPG a dual-party structure.
Exploration will use a “Key Words” system. Players discover terms during the journey, then present them to the right NPCs to uncover hidden lore, side stories, and extra context about the world.
Combat is turn-based and command-driven, with no random encounters. Each fighter has a Shield that reduces HP damage, so battles revolve around deciding when to break defenses and when to push for direct damage.

Character growth moves away from standard leveling. Progression is based on Combat Points earned through the story, which can be assigned to active skills, passive abilities, and stat boosts.
Gear can also shape builds through status buildup and Spirit Stones, allowing setups focused on shield breaking, ailments, or other tactical roles. An Easy Mode is planned for players who want to focus more on story and exploration, and the listed estimated playtime is around 10 to 15 hours.
Steam also includes an AI content disclosure, noting that generative AI is used to create base materials for some image assets, including portraits, enemies, and UI, before manual retouching or animation work is applied.
