Footage of a new Romance of the Three Kingdoms fighting game demo had surfaced online last year. This Soul Calibur-esque fighter essentially pitted characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Dynasty Warriors series against one another, but in a 1v1 format.
The characters announced thus far are Guan Yu, Lu Bu, Diao Chan, Xun Yu, Xiahou Dun, Dong Zhuo, Sun Shangxiang and Zhang Fei. It was recently announced that Kingdom Heroes: Arena (the name of this new fighting game) will be having a second demo for players to test relatively soon.
According to the Steam page for Kingdom Heroes: Arena, this second demo is scheduled to begin on April 30, 2026. It will be playable until May 5 at 9:00 p.m. PDT / 12:00 a.m. EDT (technically May 6).
The features that will be included in the demo are training mode, story mode, online matches, local gameplay and the tutorial. It’s important to highlight how the online will utilizing rollback netcode.
We’re told that players simply only need to download the demo to gain access to the content. In other words, this is an open beta for Kingdom Heroes: Arena.
Since the first demo, changes have been made to the guard break system, balance to the roster, user interface and improved optimization.
Here’s a look at the gameplay that was showcased last December:
