A new trailer shows turn-based combat, dinosaur mounts, party building, and a prehistoric fantasy world shaped by magic.
Today, the official announcement from MicroProse (even though I was already familiar with the game, which I’ve been keeping an eye on for a while) has arrived, revealing Scourge of the Reptiles with a new trailer.
This is an upcoming tactical RPG that features a unique blend of dinosaurs, magic, and war. In addition to revealing the first glimpses of the game’s mechanics, including mounted dinosaur warfare and its central campaign storyline, MicroProse confirms that Kyoti Games is developing it for PC.
The story for Scourge of the Reptiles takes place in the low-fantasy world of Odion where a cataclysmic event (the meteor) drastically shifts the balance of power across the world.
The event also gives magical abilities to humans, elves, and dinosaurs, thus opening a doorway to a treacherous environment in which the most powerful creatures on Earth are not simply tamed or feared beasts. The catastrophic event that sparks the conflict seems to have triggered a chain reaction that leads to some dinosaurs becoming aggressive towards their owners; at the same time, a greater threat starts to spread across various kingdoms.

Combat is turn-based and utilizes terrain, elevation, and flanking to determine each individual encounter and dinosaurs represent a central component of party construction and combat design.
Players will be able to train, mount, and utilize their dinosaurs as allies, mounts, and even as tools on the battlefield. Each type of dinosaur is designed to fulfill specific tactical roles, allowing players to experiment with different types of parties and encounter strategies.
A player riding a mounted unit would allow them to move around the battlefield differently, whereas larger dinosaurs could serve as frontline, area denial, or disruptors. The combination of party-based tactics and pre-historic mounts presents a compelling alternative to more conventional fantasy tactics formats.
Players will create a party consisting of warriors, mages, and dinosaur companions with more than 100 skills and abilities available throughout their campaign.

Additionally, according to MicroProse’s announcement, encounters can be resolved through combat, stealth, magic, or environmental interaction, which implies that the designers want more systemic flexibility.
Scourge of the Reptiles’ campaign is projected to last approximately 35 hours and take place in three acts with hand-crafted encounters and increasing levels of complexity as the story progresses. Additionally, enemy diversity does not appear limited solely to dinosaur-related threats.
In addition to corrupt prehistoric creatures, players will also encounter hostile human factions and undead foes, providing additional variety in combat situations and contributing to defining the tone of the setting.
Scourge of the Reptiles will be a PC game, set for release in Q3 2026 via Steam. Below is the announcement trailer.
