Each year, Spend Matters, a Hackett Group Division, honors a vast array of procurement solution providers by selecting them for our ‘50 to Know,’ ‘50 to Watch,’ ‘Future 5’ and ‘Hall of Fame’ celebration lists.
Discover everything you need to know about these accolades, including who is on them.

For the Future 5, our analysts, now part of The Hackett Group® Solution Intelligence analyst team, scour the market to find new specialist solution providers that can answer a burning need of procurement practitioners today. Following months of debate based on extensive knowledge of the many procurement technologies they have demoed, analyzed and benchmarked, they arrive at a list of five young providers that they believe are innovative and exciting, have a rapidly rising presence in the market, can grow sustainably and which every CPO should have on their radar.
These start-ups are taking technology further than most to address problems not previously solved, or are introducing a new category of automation that tackles new challenges in interesting ways. We believe these companies deserve greater visibility, especially in a market which is increasingly consolidating and diluting buyer choices.
Today, please get to know Zapro
Here’s how our analyst describes Zapro:
“Zapro is a supplier management and procurement platform designed for startups, with capabilities spanning sourcing, contract management, procurement, accounts payable automation, vendor onboarding and supplier risk tracking. It supports centralized management of supplier-related activities and spend processes for organizations looking to reduce reliance on multiple point solutions.” – Meena Ibrahim, Research Analyst, Solutions Intelligence.
We asked Zapro Co-Founder and CEO, Kafil Saleem:
How did Zapro come into being?
“Zapro was born from a simple realization: every company runs on vendors, but there is no unified operating system for managing them.
“In most organizations, vendor discovery happens on Google or referrals, onboarding happens through emails and forms, transactions run through procurement tools or ERPs, and performance tracking lives in spreadsheets. The entire vendor lifecycle is fragmented across multiple tools.
“We saw a clear gap: companies had software for customers (CRMs) and employees (HR systems), but no unified system for vendors, even though vendors are critical to every business. Zapro was created to solve this by building a Vendor OS — a platform that manages the entire vendor lifecycle:
- Discovery – finding the right vendors (note: WIP)
- Onboarding – verifying and onboarding suppliers
- Transacting – managing procurement, POs, invoices and payments
- Performance – tracking vendor reliability, risk and outcomes
- Relationship – Account management and working together
“Instead of treating procurement as a set of isolated transactions, Zapro treats vendors as long-term business partners. The cost of working with wrong vendors is way higher than the savings provided by the cheaper vendors.”
What is Zapro’s greatest strength?
“Zapro’s biggest strength is that it connects the entire vendor lifecycle into one system. Most tools solve only one piece — procurement, vendor onboarding or invoicing. Zapro connects discovery, onboarding, transacting and performance into a single workflow.
“This creates something powerful: a continuous data and context layer around vendors. When companies use Zapro, they don’t just process purchase orders, they build a living vendor intelligence system that helps them:
- Choose better suppliers
- Reduce risk
- Improve collaboration
- Optimize spend over time
“That lifecycle approach is what truly differentiates Zapro.”
What is the road ahead for Zapro?
“Our vision is to build the global Vendor OS for companies.
“The roadmap focuses on three big areas:
- Vendor Network:
A trusted network where companies can discover verified suppliers and vendors can showcase their capabilities. - AI Vendor-Specific Agents:
AI systems that help companies automatically monitor vendor performance, detect risks, summarize interactions and optimize procurement decisions. - Vendor Financial Infrastructure:
Integrating trade finance, payments and financial tools so that transactions between buyers and suppliers become faster and more reliable.
“The long-term ambition is simple:
Just like Salesforce became the system of record for customers, Zapro aims to become the system of record for vendors.”
What does it mean to be a Future 5?
“Being named a Future 5 company is an important recognition of the idea behind Zapro.
It validates that the industry is beginning to see vendor management as a strategic platform opportunity, not just a back-office function.
“For us, it’s recognition that the Vendor OS category is emerging, and Zapro is helping define it.
But more importantly, it reinforces our belief that the next generation of enterprise software will be built around ecosystems — not just internal processes.”
Many thanks to Zapro for sharing its story with us. We hope the Future 5 broadens our readers’ perception of the art of the possible to help you position your organization for the challenges ahead.
